I thought you might like to see some of the fabulous people who have joined me for my midcentury nightlife tours.
Well, not so much “tours” as they are small group, pleasurable, immersive experiences. With my iPad I share video, music, and vintage images that bring the past to life. Then we have the benefit of evocative Loop environments. The goal is to FEEL midcentury Chicago.
Every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings, 6:00-8:30 pm, I lead the Midcentury Nightlife in the Loop. We start in the Theater District, walk over to Berghoff’s, and end up at the Palmer House Hotel lobby bar, eating, drinking, and talking 1940s-50s nightlife all the while. A drink at The Berghoff and dessert at the Palmer House are included.
My guests have really enjoyed it – you can see it in these photos, can’t you?
I hope you will join me!
I realize my photos are dim…but this is about nightlife, after all!
Wendy was FABULOUS! My fiance and I got to enjoy a pleasant walk through the city while learning about Chicago Nightlife in the ’40s and ’50s. Wendy was very energetic and informative. You can tell she has a passion for history and she doesn’t just tell “stories”. She makes sure she has the facts. It was very interactive with an open dialogue for questions. I loved that we got to have something to drink at Berghoff’s and then dessert at the Palmer house – so fun! I would recommend this tour in a heartbeat.
Thank you, Sam! It was an honor to meet you two – and so fun to share the evening and Chicago with you.
