“Windy” by The Association (1967): http://youtu.be/GHpwzpaFI4g
Even though it’s not exactly my name, “Windy” was long my theme song in life (well, until “Born to Run” stole my heart forever…).
And what girl wouldn’t want to be identified with this Windy?:
Who’s peekin’ out from under a stairway
Calling a name that’s lighter than air
Who’s bending down to give me a rainbow
Everyone knows it’s WindyWho’s tripping down the streets of the city
Smilin’ at everybody she sees
Who’s reachin’ out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it’s WindyAnd Windy has stormy eyes
That flash at the sound of lies
And Windy has wings to fly
Above the clouds (above the clouds)
Above the clouds (above the clouds)
The song was written by Ruthann Friedman and made a #1 hit by The Association in 1967.
Recently I happened to find this groovy cool video of the Association performing at Ravinia in 1967. But it isn’t just a concert video: right smack dab in the middle of it, they insert footage of a perky blond “Windy” dancing and skipping all over 1967 Chicago! The fun begins at 1:38.
Windy is on the Michigan Avenue Bridge, in Old Town, in a bikini (!) on the beach, by City Hall, in Grant Park and more! And isn’t she just LOVING Chicago?! Even when her stormy eyes flash at the sound of lies !
Anyone know who this model is?
I’ve searched multiple times and can’t find anything on her…
Howdy Wendy! The complete made for WGN TV movie “The Many Moods Of Ravinia” is now available for streaming at the Museum Of Broadcast Communications website.
The “Windy” video is an excerpt from the original movie.
The program itself won a couple of local Emmys (best special and best editing) . E
As you may or may not have noticed, the editor extended the song by a minute I order to put the “Windy model” section into the program.
If you watch the original film, during the applause for “Windy” the camera cuts to “Windy the model” applauding for the song at Ravinia! It’s a nice bit of editing trickery.
Anyways the credits roll and Windy is played by Pamela Gilbreath.
Howdy, Steven – This is exceptional. Thank you so much for making me aware! I will check it out and share. Here’s the link: https://museum.tv/PP_ONLINE/TV_01519-2.mp4
