The Romance and Thrill of Chicago’s “Century of Progress” in full Color!
What’s to love most? The sumptuous Technicolor, the vivid views of the fairgrounds, the beautiful way people are dressed, or the overly exuberant narration? This is 11 minutes of 1930s fun, culminating in a crazy car race around an impossibly small track. With the emphasis on automobiles (“What kind of car is that? Why, it’s a Plymouth!”) and the fact that the film comes out of Detroit, one can only surmise that American automakers had something to do with its sponsorship.
