Featured in the November 1937 issue of Popular Science (page 70), this Chicago City Skyline Dress is one of the many inventions and innovations touted on the magazine’s pages. Its creator – a Chicago native? – thinks this “odd costume” may start “a new style of geographical gowns” in which women wear their cities on their hemlines. Compared to the scale of 1937 Chicago, 2017’s skyline would require a full-length gown.
