I love discovering and collecting quirky vintage images of Chicago. Many of them are ads that strike our modern eyes as humorous in ways that they wouldn’t have decades ago. I have located some great sources for these images: collectors on Flickr, Tumblr blogs, and, of course, Pinterest.
Pinterest is the ideal place to collect images by theme (“pins” on a “board”). You don’t have to join to look at someone’s boards. So, even if you’re not on Pinterest, I invite you to have a little fun looking at my Chicago themed boards, including Chicago by decade and RETRO WEIRD CHICAGO!
Wendy, that is a very erotic mermaid for whatever year that image was published!
Racy city we live in ! I don’t know exactly when this was published, but my best guess is late 1930s. And I just found this same mermaid used for postcards for a few other beaches around the U.S. She got around !
